In case you have a domain and a web hosting plan for it, you will be able to create mailboxes for personal or business purposes and to set them up with email apps such as Thunderbird, Outlook or Apple Mail. In the meantime, you will be able to opt for one of the two popular email protocols – IMAP or POP3. The first protocol will permit you to check all email messages, but they will stay on the email server, while with the second one, all messages will be downloaded on the device where the email account is configured, unless you explicitly select a copy to be saved on the server. In this way, you can choose if you would like all your email communication to be stored on a single device, or if you’d rather be able to view the emails from various locations. The latter alternative is extremely handy for firms where a number of employees working on different machines need to access a given email account.
